Brendan Bowyer, Tennis Director
Brendan Bowyer was appointed the Tennis Director of the Cottonwood Country Club in April of 1998. He was born in Galway, Ireland and at the age of twelve, he and his family moved to Las Vegas where he began playing tennis. As a junior player, he won the Nevada State Junior Championships as well as the Irish Junior Singles and Doubles Championships. Along with representing Ireland in international competition, Brendan and his mother
won the U.S. Open Mother/Son Championships. Brendan came to Utah on a tennis scholarship at the University of Utah. He was a finalist in the Utah State Open three times before winning it in 2002.
Chad Lassiter, Junior Tennis Director
Chad started playing tennis in Illinois at the age of 12 taking lessons at the local Parks & Rec. program. Chad played Varsity singles and doubles for the Freeport “Pretzels” for four years. During this period, he was locally and sectionally ranked within the USTA system. Chad attended Ferris State University, participating in the Professional Tennis Management Program, in Big Rapids, MI. While there, he interned for six months as a Tennis Professional at the Shipyard Racquet Club on Hilton Head Island, After two years of college Chad moved to Salt Lake City, UT where he worked for the Snowbird Canyon Racquet Club for five years. Chad has made his home at the Cottonwood Country Club where he has been the Director of Junior Tennis since 1999-2009. Chad spent the 2004 year as Vice President of the USPTA Utah District; and was President of the USPTA Utah District, for 2005. Chad sat on the Board of Directors for the Utah Tennis Association during 2005-2007.
Chad enjoys his free time with his lovely wife and children. He also is an avid cyclist!
Mark Dang, Head Teaching Professional
Mark joined the Cottonwood Club staff on February 9, 2009. From March to September of 2009 Mark held the position of the Junior Tennis Director. Prior to that, Mark had been the Director of Junior Tennis Academy at The Salt Lake Swimming and Tennis club. He is a USPTA Certified Tennis Professional with a strong background in junior development and junior programming. He enjoys his free time with his wife, Ha and two daughters, Kaci and Dakota.
Mark was born in Vietnam and moved to Colorado when he was seven years old where he played junior and college tennis. His passion for teaching tennis started in 1993 and since that time, he has held positions as Director of Tennis, Head Tennis Professional and Director of Junior Tennis at various clubs
in Colorado and Utah.
Mark enjoys working with beginners to tournament level players. He places a high emphasis on teaching proper technique, strategy and developing mental toughness incorporating both an old school and modern style into his teaching technique. Remaining a true student of the game, Mark continuously studies the new trends in the modern game and enjoys the challenge of passing this knowledge to his students.
